logo holiday colorDear Dog Lovers,

Party Time is Here!  The Opening Party for the dog run at Mosswood Park is Saturday March 1. What an accomplishment for Seth Katz who has led the Mosswood dog effort for many years. Mud mitigation efforts have started at Hardy Dog Park in Rockridge and wood chips are now spread at both large and small dog parks in Joaquin Miller. What about the trails? They are georgeous and muddy and offer spectacular views of the Bay or take you alongside tumbling creeks. Don your rain gear and get out to hike with your dog. Then remember to check for ticks when you get home. Stand your dog on a light colored sheet, in the bathtub or on newspaper sothat you can see those little critters when they fall off.  It is worth the effort to be out in our open spaces.   Let us hear from you when you have dog news or concerns at  odogparks@comcast.net  or  at our website  www.odogparks.org.  Emily Rosenberg, Publisher

FEDS WANT TO BAN OFF-LEASH
Thanks to so many Oakland Dog Owners who took time to naivgate the Federal maze and write a letter in support of retaining off leash access at San Francisco's coastal parks. It will be months before we hear the results but we have done our share.

Our Sponsor: Paws and Claws
Paws & Claws at grand opening eventOne of the best things about getting your natural pet food at Paws and Claws Natural Pet Food Store and Bath House is the community commitment that owners Diane and Ruth have to Oakland. Here they are at last year's opening party in Joaquin Miller Park.

Visit Paws and Claws to wash your dog and for food and supplies. Tuesday through Sunday at 2023 MacArthur, just off Fruitvale and around the corner from three great new stores: La Farine Bakery, Peets and the big Farmer Joe's. Phone 336-0105.

Point Isabel  News
Point Isabel
The Point Isabel website reports that the dogs have access to the water again so grab the ball and the towel and let your dog get wet even on our sunny days.

We hear that the improvements to the lawn look beautiful and that the renewed parts of the park might be open for use this month. .

Your dog will be proud of you when you  take a turn at Poop Pick Up weekends and show you are part of the Point Isabel community.
