| Meeting About Proposed Dog Rules |

| Rules about tethering your dog to a parking meter, poop pick up in the neighborhood and dogs left in vehicles are just some of the issues being proposed for new dog laws in Oakland this fall.
The public is invited to comment and make suggestions at a meeting next Wednesday, August 29 from 7-9pm at the Dimond Branch Library, 3565 Fruitvale Avenue.

There are a number of other provisions being proposed by City Council Member Jean Quan based on her conversations with the Animal Services Department. Now she wants to hear from animal owners.
We hope to see a recommendation that responsible dog owners be given on-leash access to selected city parks. We don't know if there are propsals that will specifically affect dog walkers, pet sitters and groomers or what other issues are on the table.

The meeting will allow about one minute for each person to offer comments so be sure to focus on the actual regulations rather than how much you love your dog or the rights of dogs or pet owners. |

California Dog Rules(PDF) went into effect earlier this year and provide the basis of the dog in car poposal.
