Joaquin Miller Dog Park is in the Oakland Hills admist thousands of redwoods and oak trees which offer shade and a beautfiful natural setting. There are separate runs for large and small dogs and plenty of easy parking. Dogs must be on leash from the car to dog runs.

The dog park can't be seen from the road so look for the big old wooden sign that says Woodminster Theater. Drive into the park and stay to the left. In about one minute you will arrive at the dog park. This link will get you there.

DOG PARK CLOSING

The large and small dog parks close frequently during June, July, August, September early October so that they can be returned to their original use as parking lots for Woodminster Theater.

To keep the dog park open for use most of the year, users must volunter to help close it down for the summer events and monitor it for illegal use. It depends on dog owners like you to volunteer an hour of time during the summer. Send us an email now.

The rest of Joaquin MIller Park is absolutely LEASH REQUIRED on all trails and park areas except the dog park.

Joaquin Miller Park (JMP) continues onto the South Side of Skyline Boulveard and it is still LEASH REQUIRED even though this part of the park appears to be in Redwood Park where dogs are allowed off-leash. There are no boundary postings so be aware.

In addition to dog park closing dates below the entire park closes for budget furlough days and for red flag fire danger days which normally are listed at www.oaklandnet.com .

Here are shut down dates. We need volunteers the night before and the morning of the shut downs. Volunteer at least once this summer.

The first closing date will be on a weekday in May for a graduation event.

You can take your dog ON-LEASH in other parts of Joaquin Miller Park, you can go south on Skyline one miles for acres of off-leash trails and you can go to Mosswood or Hardy Dog Parks.

If you use Joaquin Miller you put us ALL in danger of losing access to the dog park, forever.
